| Shedding Light On The Hip-Hop Culture Every member of Eternal Tribe has grown up in the Hip-Hop Culture. We have all witnessed hip hop music lead millions upon millions of kids around the world astray as we once were. Most of the world's Rap Stars are either gang members, thugs, thieves, or convicts and have nothing to rap about accept their reality, which is, gang banging, gun's, riches, drugs, power, fornication, murder, etc. Violence, crime and going to jail are glamorized in the world of Hip-Hop. "Calling good evil and evil good" (Isaiah 5:20). The kids look up to the Rap Star and their dress, walk, talk, and worst of all, idolize them as the enemy attacks their minds and deceives them with powerful Hip-Hop Music. 2nd Corinthians 4:4 tells us that the devil has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so they can't see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the creator-who is forever praised." (Romans 1:25) Reaching the Lost Eternal Tribe, A.K.A., e-Tribe, has a burden for the Hip-Hop Culture and is using cutting edge street metaphors in their choruses & rhymes, not to mention, "bangin' beats" to reach "Generation X" and "Generation Next." Da "e" actually translates the "Word" in the street language the kids understand, as Jesus is meeting them right where they are! It's not the Hippies any more... it's the Homies! Rap Music is the mainstream now with blockbuster record sales. Hip-Hop is a great format for the gospel because we can say a lot and "keeping it real" is respected on the streets. Just as a gangster can rap of his reality and get accepted, so can this Christian Music Ministry rap of its reality, which is "Da Word." The four fundamental principals this Hip-Hop Ministry is built upon are, "the steadfast study of the apostle's teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer." Acts 2:42 Our Vision is to see the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in the mind and heart of every kid in the world and letting our lifestyles bear witness to any and all, from the Rap Stars to the Homies. The last thing this world needs is a Rap or Rock Star! Jesus came to serve not to be served (Matthew 20:28) and that's why we are here - to serve just like Jesus. |
